Tim Horton
Tim graduated in Music from Cambridge University, where he was the Organ Scholar at Jesus College. He took his O Levels and A Levels at Sevenoaks School, and has worked for nearly 30 years in a variety of Independent schools throughout the country, teaching across the age range from Reception to A Level and Oxbridge entry. He has worked as a teacher and a Head of Department before becoming a Headmaster in 2015, holding posts as Head in two different Independent Schools.
Tim now offers independent consultancy specialising in offering tailored support to children, parents and schools.Tim is passionate about supporting children of all ages on their educational journeys, and his innovative Head Space service offers confidential support to serving school leaders.
Ruth Havenga
With her first class degree in English literature and language, her vast experience teaching in an array of different learning environments, and her classical actor’s training, Ruth is well placed to inspire, engage and educate her students in their study of English.
Specialising in GCSE literature and language, most of Ruth’s work is with year 10 and 11 students; ensuring students have a deep understanding of their literature texts and developing their analysing skills. Alongside this, there is a focus on students’ essay writing skills to ensure they can structure their knowledge into fully developed paragraphs and well-organised essays.
Priya Kara
Priya is an Academic Coach teaching and motivating students how best to learn and study effectively so that students can reach their ambitious study goals.
As a former secondary school educator and Specialist Leader in Education (SLE) with over 15 years of experience, Priya is well aware of the potential challenges students will face during their academic journey. Priya uses her extensive background and expertise in education and academic foundation to offer tailored coaching sessions to students to help them to reach and elevate towards their academic goals.
Priya offers coaching programmes so students have the confidence to lead learning independently. Priya focuses on; goal setting, revision skills, support and guidance with memory and retention of information, motivation and supporting students with organization through a tailored study structure. Each session is backed with practical tips and strategies not often taught at school
Abdul Bashir
Abdul is a Business and Marketing graduate with experience in a variety of roles in top 5 FTSE 100 companies including both analytical and
Second Level Leadership.
Abdul offers a wealth of knowledge and support with apprentice and graduate schemes along with mentoring and aiding students to obtain the soft skills needed to succeed in a fast moving and pressurised environment.
He also has a strong passion for football, organising numerous charity tournaments and football leagues throughout the year.
Maryam Hashemi
Maryam is a one of our Science tutors. She got her bachelors in electrical engineering and has a master’s degree in wireless communication systems. She has tremendous experience in teaching maths and physics privately at GCSE and A-level for over 5 years.
She also has experience teaching Maths upto GCSE level. Maryam helps install confidence and motivation towards any student she comes across
Kelly Faber
Kelly is one of our latest additions to the Manara team, she is a qualified Home-school teacher with over 18 years teaching and tuition experience. Highly successful Common Entrance tutor for exams at 18 plus. Experienced with GCSE, IGCSE and IB personalised tuition plans, covering subject knowledge and exam technique.
Facilitator of one to one and group sessions for EFL/ESL students. Professional experience includes in-school and private support for students with learning difficulties such as Dyslexia and Autism. Assessment and school placement support regularly provided. Highly skilled using in person and online learning techniques and creating engaging learning environments.
